When Tharoorian English undergoes grammar check!

New Delhi: Social networking sites have always been in awe of command that Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has over English language.

Complex tweets by Tharoor have always been focal point of discussion on Twitter but as the New Year ushered in the ‘English Teacher of Indian Twitter’ had an ‘oops’ moment.

Tharoor took to twitter to thank those who joined him on his Facebook Live and wrote: “Delighted to have 20,000 live viewers for my #FacebookLive at lunchtime on New Year’s Day! Those whom missed it can view it at leisure on https://www.facebook.com/ShashiTharoor/videos/10155485107363167/ … @facebook”

Soon, he was out to be schooled for his typo by none other than author and social commentator Suhel Seth.

Seth quoted Tharoor’s tweet and wrote, “Happy New Year. And those ‘who’ missed it :-):-)or those ‘of’ whom…..

A series of tweets followed calling both Tharoor-Seth tweets as ‘epics’.

Tharoor, tendering an explanation said that it was a typo error and that he would be careful in future to re-read his tweets before posting and Seth in his animated self called Tharoor “adorably kind” for gracefully accepting his mistake.

Last year, Tharoor stumped the world by his usage- “Exasperating farrago of distortions, misrepresentations & outright lies being broadcast by an unprincipled showman masquerading as a journalist.” Tharoor had tweeted this slamming a TV channel and a journalist who had accused him of hiding information about the death of his wife, Sunanda Pushkar.
