A shocking murder attempt was narrowly averted in Raichur, Karnataka, after a woman allegedly tried to kill her husband by pushing him into a river under the guise of taking a selfie.

The incident took place on a bridge over a river where the couple had gone together. The wife reportedly asked her husband to take a selfie with her. As he was setting up the shot, she allegedly pushed him off the bridge into the flowing river.

Fortunately, the man managed to catch hold of a rock midstream and clung on for dear life. Locals who spotted him struggling in the water quickly sprang into action and threw a rope to rescue him.

When asked why he had jumped into the river, the man reportedly told the villagers that he hadn’t jumped — his wife had pushed him with the intent to kill.

Local authorities are investigating the incident and questioning the woman. The husband’s timely grasp of the rock and the villagers’ quick response saved him from what could have been a tragic end.
