Mumbai Police detained a woman on Thursday for allegedly threatening to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a call made to the police control room on Wednesday. The call, traced to Amboli in Mumbai’s western suburbs, prompted authorities to register a case and launch an investigation.
After tracking down the caller, a Mumbai Police team took her into custody for questioning. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the woman was mentally unstable, and the threat was later classified as a prank. The woman, who did not have a prior criminal record, is still under investigation.
This incident follows a series of recent threats in Mumbai, including a November 12 arrest of Faizan Khan, who threatened actor Shah Rukh Khan and demanded ₹50 lakh. Earlier in October, a man from Jamshedpur was arrested for threatening Bollywood actor Salman Khan and demanding a ransom of ₹5 crore, allegedly in the name of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
The ongoing threats to public figures, including politicians and celebrities, have raised alarm, with police continuing to investigate these incidents.
