In a remarkable incident, a woman from Bihar gave birth to a baby on platform number four of Guwahati Railway Station on Monday, transforming an ordinary train journey into an unforgettable moment.
The woman was traveling from Agartala to Barauni on the Rani Kamlapati Express when she suddenly went into labor. Upon receiving the distress call, officials from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) acted swiftly, advising her to deboard at Guwahati station. As the train arrived, railway doctors and Railway Protection Force (RPF) women personnel quickly assisted her, ensuring the safe delivery on the platform.
After the birth, the woman and her newborn were promptly transported to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for further care, accompanied by her husband. NFR CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma emphasized the railway’s readiness to assist passengers in emergencies.
The Assam government also extended its support, offering medical aid to the mother and child through various health schemes during their hospitalization.
The NFR, which operates in northeastern India, is involved in numerous expansion projects to strengthen the railway network across the region, ensuring better facilities and services for passengers.
