A shocking case of alleged murder driven by an extramarital relationship has emerged from Andhra Pradesh, where a woman is accused of killing her husband with the help of her boyfriend after lacing his dinner with sleeping pills.
Murder reported from village in Andhra Pradesh
The incident took place at Chiluvur village. Police identified the victim as Lokam Shivanagaraju, an onion trader. He had been married to Lakshmi Madhuri since 2007, and the couple had two sons.
According to investigators, Madhuri, who worked at a cinema ticket counter in Vijayawada, had allegedly developed a relationship with Gopi, a native of Sattenapalli. Police said she began seeing her husband as an obstacle to the relationship.
Biryani laced with sleeping pills
On the night of January 18, Madhuri allegedly mixed around 20 sleeping tablets into biryani prepared for her husband. After consuming the food, Shivanagaraju reportedly lost consciousness.
Police said that around 11.30 pm, Gopi came to the house. He allegedly sat on the victim’s chest while Madhuri suffocated him with a pillow, leading to his death. After confirming that Shivanagaraju was dead, Gopi reportedly left the house.
Attempt to pass off death as heart attack
Investigators said Madhuri remained in the house through the night with the body and later raised an alarm in the early morning, claiming her husband had suffered a heart attack.
However, suspicions were raised when relatives noticed injuries and bleeding from Shivanagaraju’s ear. A post-mortem examination later confirmed that the cause of death was suffocation.
Accused arrested, probe continues
Following the autopsy report, police arrested Madhuri and detained Gopi for questioning. Further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events and gather additional evidence.
The case has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting yet again how domestic disputes and extramarital relationships can escalate into extreme violence.
