Jhansi: In a surprising turn of events from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, a woman named Richa Soni reportedly left her husband Neeraj Vishwakarma after securing a government position as a lekhpal (accountant). The couple had a love marriage two years ago, with Neeraj, a carpenter, supporting Richa throughout her preparation for the government job.
Neeraj and Richa met through a mutual friend five years ago and developed a close friendship that blossomed into love. They married in court on February 6, 2022. Neeraj not only supported Richa emotionally but also assisted her in her application for the clerk position in 2022.
Richa successfully passed the exam in 2023, bringing joy to their family. However, in January 2024, Richa left home under the pretense of going to college and never returned. When Neeraj approached her parents, they informed him that Richa did not wish to return.
In desperation, Neeraj wrote to the District Magistrate (DM) about his missing wife. The police located Richa a few hours later. When questioned, Richa stated that she had become an accountant and no longer felt compatible with Neeraj, who is a carpenter.
Neeraj accused Richa of ignoring his calls and refusing to communicate with him. Learning that Richa would be at the Jhansi Collectorate to receive her appointment letter, Neeraj went there to meet her. Despite his efforts, Richa left through a back gate without meeting him. Frustrated and heartbroken, Neeraj has written another letter to the DM, seeking help in his distressing situation.
This case echoes a similar incident from last year in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Jyoti Maurya, a PCS officer and SDM, was accused of leaving her first husband after achieving success in a government exam. Her husband claimed that he had supported her financially and emotionally, only to be abandoned once she reached her goals.
The situation in Jhansi highlights the emotional and social complexities that can arise when personal and professional lives intersect. Neeraj’s plea for justice underscores the need for empathy and support in resolving such personal conflicts.
