New Delhi: A video from West Delhi’s Kirti Nagar showing a woman repeatedly slapping and hitting a security guard with her slipper outside a police station has gone viral on social media, triggering sharp reactions online.
The incident reportedly took place on Friday near the gate of the Kirti Nagar Police Station.
In the video, the woman, identified as Jasmeet Kaur, is seen confronting a uniformed security guard while Delhi Police personnel stand nearby. She is seen slapping the guard multiple times and striking him with her chappal during the altercation.
Allegations linked to stray dog’s death
According to police officials, the confrontation stemmed from allegations that the security guard had assaulted a stray dog with an iron rod.
Police said they received a complaint stating that the dog sustained injuries in the incident and later died.
The injured dog was reportedly taken to a private veterinary hospital, where it was declared dead.
However, police officials stated that the hospital has not yet submitted any formal statement regarding the exact cause of the animal’s death.
Police probing both incidents
Delhi Police said both aspects of the case — the alleged assault on the stray dog and the physical assault on the security guard — are currently under inquiry.
Officials added that suitable legal action would be initiated based on the findings of the investigation.
So far, neither Jasmeet Kaur nor the security guard has reportedly filed a formal complaint against each other.
Kaur, who is believed to be associated with animal welfare activities, has also not issued any public statement regarding the incident.
Viral video sparks online debate
The video quickly spread across social media platforms including X, Instagram, and YouTube, generating mixed reactions from users.
While some users praised the woman for allegedly standing up against cruelty towards animals, others criticised the assault on the security guard and questioned why police personnel present at the scene did not intervene immediately.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing tensions surrounding stray dog management and public safety in Delhi.
Reports suggest earlier altercation
According to multiple reports, the stray dog involved in the incident had allegedly bitten a passerby earlier in the area.
The security guard reportedly attempted to drive the animal away using a stick, which allegedly resulted in serious injuries to the dog.
Police are expected to verify these claims as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Stray dog issue remains sensitive topic
The incident comes amid continuing debate in Delhi regarding stray dog management, animal welfare, and public safety concerns.
In August 2025, protests had erupted in parts of the national capital following Supreme Court directions asking authorities to remove stray dogs from streets and relocate them to shelters amid increasing cases of dog bites and rabies.
Animal welfare activists and resident groups have often remained divided over how authorities should address the issue.
Police said further investigation is under progress and action will be taken after examining all evidence and statements connected to the case.
