Worn-out slings snapped mid-lift

The iron bars fell directly on Bhosale’s head and shoulder, causing severe injuries. She was immediately rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Investigators stated that preliminary findings suggest lapses in workplace safety measures. The use of damaged lifting equipment is suspected to have led to the fatal accident.

Based on the findings, Wanowrie police have registered a case against the crane operator and the labour contractor for allegedly failing to ensure worker safety.

Further investigation is underway to determine whether mandatory safety checks and compliance norms were followed at the site.
