A 21-year-old professional from Lucknow has grabbed attention online after posting her brutally honest resignation letter describing alleged toxic work culture, unrealistic expectations and poor pay at her former workplace.

Pratishtha Gupta shared the resignation email on Instagram, where it quickly went viral for its sarcastic tone and blunt criticism of her employer.

‘The math stopped mathing’

In the letter, Pratishtha announced her immediate resignation and explained how she felt overworked and underpaid while handling multiple responsibilities.

“To be fr, the math has stopped mathing, the vibes have rancidified, and the ROI on my sanity is in the negatives,” she wrote.

She also joked that she was doing the work of several employees while being paid “the price of a sourdough toast”.

The young employee claimed she handled responsibilities including video editing, content strategy, SEO, WordPress management and analytics, while also assisting with HR-related tasks.

Claims of toxic work culture

Speaking to media outlets, Pratishtha described the workplace as “toxic” and “unprofessional”. She alleged that the company management often placed unrealistic expectations on interns and junior employees.

She also claimed she was repeatedly contacted by the company’s HR team even after resigning, asking for help with operational work and passwords.

The resignation letter sparked strong reactions online, with many social media users praising her honesty and relating to workplace stress faced by young professionals.

The incident has once again triggered discussions around toxic work environments, burnout and employee wellbeing in modern workplaces.
