Mumbai: A 22-year-old man sustained serious leg injuries after his Porsche car collided with a barricade on the Western Express Highway (WEH) at Jogeshwari in the early hours of Thursday.

Accident details

The driver, identified as Neo Sonks, was travelling on the southbound carriageway of WEH towards Andheri Lokhandwala around 2:30 am when the incident occurred. According to Iqbal Shikalgar, senior police inspector of Jogeshwari police station, Sonks lost control of the car while trying to avoid a pothole, causing the vehicle to crash head-on into the barricade.

Sonks’s friend, driving a BMW, was reportedly following him at the time. Fortunately, no pedestrians were hurt and no other vehicles were damaged in the accident.

Damage and aftermath

The front portion of the Porsche was severely damaged in the collision. A video of the aftermath shows the blue-colored car stranded on the roadside, with one headlight flickering while the other is completely broken.

Police action

The police have lodged a case against Sonks under Sections 125(b) and 281 of the BNS and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. Authorities are also investigating whether the two men were racing at the time of the crash.
