A tragic incident was reported from Odisha’s Angul district where a young man collapsed and died while playing a cricket match at a village playground on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Sabuja Balaya Pradhan, a resident of Badasada village under Pallahara block. He was working as a postal employee.
According to reports, Pradhan had attended a feast with friends earlier in the day before joining a cricket game at the village playground.
Eyewitnesses said he was batting during the match when he suddenly complained of severe chest pain and collapsed on the field, shocking fellow players and villagers.
Local residents immediately rushed him to the Khamar Community Health Centre for emergency treatment. However, doctors reportedly declared him dead upon arrival.
The sudden death of the young postal worker has left residents of Badasada village in mourning. Villagers described the incident as deeply disturbing as Pradhan had appeared healthy and active moments before collapsing.
Authorities have not reported any signs of foul play, and the death is currently believed to have occurred due to natural causes, possibly linked to a cardiac condition.
The incident has once again raised concerns over sudden cardiac emergencies among young adults during physical activity and the importance of immediate medical response in rural areas.
