A 22-year-old man from Devarkulam in Tirunelveli district has been arrested for allegedly sharing a video on social media aimed at inciting caste-based tensions. The accused, identified as S Mathu, had posted the provocative content in a WhatsApp group, prompting swift action from local law enforcement.

Following a complaint, the Devarkulam police registered a case, and the district police intensified their surveillance of online platforms. The crackdown is part of a broader initiative to curb communal disturbances sparked by irresponsible social media activity.

Tirunelveli Superintendent of Police N. Silambarasan has directed officers to closely monitor digital spaces and act swiftly against any attempts to spread hate. He also announced that awareness campaigns are being conducted in schools, colleges, and public forums to educate people about the legal consequences of sharing or promoting inflammatory content online.

The police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any such incidents to prevent social unrest.
