In a joint operation, Andhra Pradesh Police and local police in Jodhpur arrested a 19-year-old युवक for allegedly being part of an ISIS-inspired social media network involved in radicalising youth.

Arrest linked to wider probe

The accused, identified as Zeeshan, was apprehended from the Nai Sarak area following a lead from an earlier arrest in Vijayawada.

Police said the breakthrough came after interrogation of another suspect, which revealed Zeeshan’s alleged involvement in online extremist activities.

Radical content recovered

Authorities stated that the accused had deleted several files from his mobile phone to hide evidence. However, forensic experts were able to retrieve the data, which reportedly included videos and communications linked to extremist propaganda associated with ISIS.

Investigators also found that he was in contact with individuals already imprisoned for similar offences.

Admin of online group spreading ideology

Police revealed that Zeeshan was the administrator of a social media group named “BENX”, through which he allegedly shared videos and voice messages promoting radical views.

Officials believe he played an active role in attempting to influence and recruit other young individuals through digital platforms.

Possible international links under probe

Investigators suspect that the network may have links to foreign elements. Authorities are examining communications and digital trails to identify other individuals involved.

Police added that the accused had been associated with the group for nearly two years and had undergone a vetting process by handlers before being assigned responsibilities.

Further investigation is underway, and officials expect more arrests as the probe expands.
