A video of a man snatching a microphone from a news reporter at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj has gone viral, leaving the reporter stunned and confused. The bizarre moment was captured as the reporter was interviewing a devotee from Rajasthan about the event’s arrangements when a man nearby suddenly grabbed the microphone and ran off.
Before the incident could fully register, the “mic thief” shared the video on social media, explaining that it was all in good fun. The man, later identified as Shiva Pushkar, a YouTuber documenting his Maha Kumbh journey, uploaded the clip on Instagram with the caption: “Did you like my prank?”
The video shows the reporter asking the man to step back as he got too close, but the man persisted, eventually grabbing the mic and fleeing, leaving the reporter visibly flustered. As people in the crowd quickly started recording, they also chased after him to retrieve the stolen mic.
In a follow-up video, Pushkar returned the microphone to the reporter and defended his actions, saying, “You were asking everyone such serious questions. Your mind must be stressed. I took the mic as a joke, just to lighten things up.” He added that he creates content for YouTube.
The video sparked mixed reactions online, with viewers divided over whether it was a harmless prank or an unnecessary disruption. One thing’s for sure: Shiva Pushkar knows how to attract attention.
