In a surprising move, Zomato, the popular food delivery platform, has officially changed the name of its parent company from ‘Zomato Limited’ to ‘Eternal Limited.’ Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal announced the decision in a letter to shareholders, explaining that the company’s corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com, and the stock ticker will change from ZOMATO to ETERNAL.

The name change reflects a broader vision, encompassing Zomato’s four key businesses: Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure. This rebranding has sparked a wave of confusion and surprise across social media, with many users questioning the reason behind altering a well-known brand name. One user humorously remarked, “Zomato was a good name, but Eternal doesn’t have the same ring to it. I’ll switch to Swiggy now.”

Despite the corporate shift, Goyal reassured customers that the food delivery platform’s name will remain unchanged, which helped calm some fears. A few users drew comparisons to other major rebrands, such as Facebook becoming Meta and Twitter transforming into X.

The change in corporate identity has sparked mixed reactions online, with some users finding the name “Eternal” fresh and forward-thinking, possibly hinting at future expansions beyond food delivery. Others, however, voiced concerns over the complexities of the rebrand and wished for Zomato to remain unchanged in the app world.
