Infosys terminates 30-45 trainees for failing internal assessments
Infosys has reportedly terminated 30 to 45 trainees from its Mysuru branch after they failed to meet the criteria in internal assessments despite additional preparation, mock tests, and doubt-clearing sessions. The trainees were part of the company’s Foundation Skills Training Program, designed to prepare them for roles within the company.
The latest layoffs come months after Infosys laid off around 350 trainees from the same campus, many of whom faced significant delays in onboarding, having been hired after waiting for over two and a half years.
However, Infosys is offering these trainees a second chance. The company is providing 12 weeks of specialized training for roles in its Business Process Management (BPM) division. The company will sponsor this training, giving the affected trainees an opportunity to continue their careers with Infosys.
Trainees who were let go received emails informing them that they had not met the qualifying standards, despite receiving additional preparation time. The company is also offering a one-month ex gratia payment and a relieving letter for those impacted by the terminations.
Although Infosys has not provided an official statement, this initiative appears to be part of the company’s effort to help trainees transition into other potential roles within the organization.
