As the nation celebrates Swachhata Hi Seva 2024, highlighting the successes of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) in Shivaji Nagar, Kalaburagi, stands out for its commitment to cleanliness. Recognized with the Kayakalp Award for the sixth consecutive year, the UPHC is in the running for the ‘Best Urban Health Centre’ category this year.
Dr. Sandhya Rani Pauranik emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean environment, stating, “No patient should carry disease outside.” The Kayakalp initiative, launched in 2017, aims to ensure high standards of hygiene and infection control in hospitals. Awardees receive ₹2 lakh annually and are subject to yearly inspections by medical teams.
Staff at the UPHC, including health inspector Mehmood Sen and nurse Nafisa Begum, highlighted the improved facilities and hygienic conditions that enhance patient care. The Kayakalp Award, facilitated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is a testament to the dedication of health facilities across India in promoting cleanliness and quality service.
