Kalaburagi: The district administration in Kalaburagi has initiated preventive measures to manage potential flooding, with nodal officers appointed across taluks to monitor river water levels and coordinate relief activities.

These officers will oversee emergency response, including evacuation of residents and livestock, set up relief centres, and ensure distribution of food and basic amenities. They are also responsible for close coordination with taluk tahsildars, panchayat development officers (PDOs), and village accountants to streamline aid operations.

Authorities stressed the timely disbursal of financial assistance under the NDRF/SDRF norms. The inflow into the Bhima River has reduced to 35,000 cusecs from 50,000 earlier this week, indicating a stabilising situation, though vigilance remains high.

Nodal officers will remain in constant touch with local residents and authorities, offering real-time updates to the District Disaster Management Authority. Their round-the-clock responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring flood levels

  • Coordinating safe evacuations

  • Managing care centres

  • Ensuring essential supplies

  • Documenting damages

  • Supervising compensation disbursals

  • A robust communication network has been established to ensure swift response during emergencies. All officers assigned are trained in disaster response and equipped to act promptly during crises.

Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to stay alert and follow official instructions.
