Kalaburagi: With summer intensifying and water shortages worsening, Deputy Commissioner B. Fouziah Tarannum toured multiple villages to assess the drinking water situation and address public grievances.

During her visit to Jaferabad village in Bheemalli Gram Panchayat, she inspected key residential areas like Ashraya Colony and Pandit Deendayal Nagar, where residents complained of irregular water supply. She directed L&T officials to ensure weekly water distribution and urged locals to conserve water. Assuring residents of better services, she announced that the Jal Jeevan Mission’s tap connection project was set for implementation.

In Savalagi, Hunasihadagil, and Machanal Tanda, she instructed officials to rent private borewells and wells to meet drinking water needs, stressing the use of 15th Finance Commission funds for the initiative. Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs) were ordered to take immediate action.

At Machanal Tanda, she reviewed the progress of household tap connections, while in Garuru (B) village, she found borewell water contaminated with fluoride. Officials were directed to prevent its use for drinking and rent a nearby well to ensure a safe water supply.
