Kalaburagi Deputy Commissioner Fouzia Tarannum conducted a series of inspections on Friday to ensure the timely completion of critical infrastructure and address local issues. She first visited the final stage of the bridge construction across the Kagina River on the Kalaburagi-Sedam Road, urging officials to expedite the work and maintain high quality. Tarannum emphasized the urgency due to frequent submergence of the old bridge during heavy rains, which leads to disconnection in the region.
Following this, Tarannum toured Sedam taluk to review various development projects. She visited Konkanaalli village, where a house recently collapsed due to rain, and interacted with the affected families. She also inspected the local anganwadi center, gathering information about the nutritious food provided to children, pregnant women, and other needy individuals.
At Shree Cement’s unit in Kodla-Benakanahalli, where a recent worker fatality occurred, Tarannum investigated the site and discussed the incident with company officials. She stressed the importance of worker safety, urging the company to install safety signboards, distribute safety tools, and educate workers on safety practices to prevent future accidents.
In addition, Tarannum addressed farmers protesting outside the factory, listening to their demands and concerns. Joint Director of the District Industrial Centre, M Satishkumar, accompanied her during these inspections.
