In a pioneering move, the Kalaburagi City Police have introduced air-conditioned helmets to shield traffic personnel from the scorching summer heat, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative in Karnataka.

Kalaburagi regularly faces temperatures soaring up to 45°C in May, placing immense physical strain on police officers, especially those on outdoor traffic and patrolling duty. To address this, the department has begun a pilot program by issuing 10 AC helmets, with plans to expand the initiative based on its success.

In addition to the helmets, 3M pollution masks are also being distributed to protect officers from dust and vehicular pollution, said Police Commissioner Dr. Sharanappa S.D.

The initiative aims to improve working conditions and health safety for on-ground personnel, especially during peak summer months.
