Kalaburagi: A tragic incident unfolded in Yadrami taluk, where a 16-year-old boy and girl, both Class 10 students from a government high school, were discovered dead on Saturday morning.
Their bodies were found suspended from a tree along Malli-Ainapur Road, bound by a single rope. The boy, a resident of Nagarahalli, belonged to a backward-class community, while the girl, from Malli village, was part of a minority group.
According to local sources, the two teenagers were in a relationship, though they had not disclosed it to their families. On Friday night, the girl had gone to bed as usual, but by morning, she was missing. Assuming she had stepped out momentarily, the family did not suspect anything until villagers informed them about the tragedy.
By the time authorities became aware, their families had already conducted last rites. Police were notified only after the cremation, and the relatives stated they did not hold anyone accountable for the incident.
Reports suggest that the girl’s family had plans for her marriage, which may have driven the couple to take this extreme step. The police are investigating further.
