Dubai: Devesh Alva, a Mangalorean, gem of a person, well-known in social circles, passed away this morning in Dubai after fighting an ailment for a year.  He currently partly owned Pioneer Marine Services and was earlier Divisional Manager at Solas Marine Services.  The famous Woodlands Indian Restaurant in Sharjah was started by Devesh Alva in the year 2008 along with Woodside Restaurant.

A respected businessman, community leader and philanthropist who had contributed a lot silently in community circles without looking into caste, creed and religion, his will be a name not to be forgotten. It is a great loss to the community here in Dubai who all bid farewell to this great human and he will be fondly remembered.

A Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) of SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Devesh Alva was an active athlete and fond of singing.  He was very prominent among the SDM College Alumni in Dubai.

Recently he celebrated his 50th Birthday with his close associates and family.  He was the General Secretary of UAE Bunts.  This year as a Manager of ‘Bunts Premier League Season 03 – 2023’ he has successfully conducted the League cum knock-out tournament this November at Ajman.

Devesh was an extraordinary human being with a golden heart. He was straightforward, courageous in every situation, and at the same time was a very good helping hand and magnanimous too. He was instrumental in holding the Global SDMite meet in Dubai a few years ago. He has helped so many people in finding suitable job opportunities abroad.

Hundreds of people gathered in Sonapur, Muhaisnah Mortuary, Dubai to give their last respects and prayers where his body was prepared for sending to Mangalore for final cremation.

KNRI President Praveen Shetty of Fortune Group of Hotels took the lead in arranging the repatriation process and very many Community heads of all the Karnataka and Manglorean Community Associations along with close friends and families gathered for hours together with grief and paid final respects to Devesh’s mortal remains with their prayers for his soul to rest in peace.
