Dubai: The seventh episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s Namaste Teacher was telecast on Saturday October 16.
The series that showcases teachers and the impact they have had on students through teacher-student interaction was broadcast live on YouTube at youtube.com/newskarnataka. The event host was Spearhead Media Group Mentor and Advisor CA Valerian Dalmaida, and the co-host Kiran Nirkam.
The teacher and the main guest of the evening was Dr. Kumarswamy Bejjihalli, Head of the Kannada Department, Loloya Degree College, Bengaluru, and his students Varun Raj R., 1st B.Com, Loyola Degree College, Bengaluru, Dhanush K. P., Student, SDM B.Ed College, Ujire, Dakshina Kannada, Kavya S. and Pooja C., 3rd B.Com, Loyola Degree College, Bengaluru, and Rashmi R., Bengaluru University M.A. (Kannada), the other guests.
In the beginning host CA Valerian Dalmaida introduced the teacher, Dr. Kumarswamy Bejjihalli, and co-host Rajesh introduced all the students.
Dr. Kumarswamy Bejjihalli shared his experience as a teacher and said, ”I was from a very small villege in Shira Taluk, and my family was very poor and my mother was illiterate. In my childhood I use to walk bare-footed. The credit for my success goes to my mother, and then to my beloved students. Always my first choice are students. Eventhough they belong to varied background we have to treat them equally.”
“Teacher must encourage the talent which is hidden in each student. Our teaching must inspire the students. A teacher must have pride regarding their profession. We learn many things from the students. Learning is a continues process. Every teacher need critical analysis, and I take it positively.
Student Kavya said, “he motivated us. He provided platform for our talent. He is not only teacher for us, but also a good friend. We can’t evaluate the teaching of our teachers.
Further Dhanush said, “he taught us about the word Janapada and Jaanapada for 5 – 6 classes. He revealed many social and realistic things which is burning in the society. He is a bundle of knowledge. He inspired us to read Dalit literature. He is a guide, and well-wisher to us. Personally I learnt the teaching method from Kumarswamy sir.”
Meanwhile Rashmi said, ”I haven’t attended his class, yet he inspired us through Samshodhana Vedike. Iam eagerly waiting to attend his classes. He is a very good guide for youth regarding Kannada literature.”
Varun said, ”while he explained Kannada vachanas we would become emotional. His teaching is very effective. He is a very knowledgeable person, and is a treasure of knowledge. He has a good Kannada vocabulary.”
Pooja said, “he imparted general knowledge to us. Though we are in degree final year, we have no Kannada subject at all, and so we are missing him.”
Both students and teacher recalled their school life and became excited. Students reminded their teacher the mischievous things they did during their college days.
While signing off, all the students wished their teacher again and extended best wishes to Newskarnataka for hosting programmes like Namaste Teacher.
