KCO Trust distributes scholarships to 29 deserving students

Mangaluru: Konkani Cultural Organization, Abu Dhabi, the premier organization striving to preserve culture and improve the lives of fellow brethren back home through its KCO Trust organized and event to disburse scholarships to economically backward deserving students of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi districts and Gulbarga Diocese.

The event in association with Samanvaya, Mangalore was held at Bajpe Church Hall on August 13 2023. The event began with a prayer song followed by lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest Rev. Fr Clery D’Souza of Gulbarga Diocese and Parish Priest of Bhalki Mission Station. Michael D’Silva, ex-President of KCO welcomed the gathering and the dignitaries on the dais. The Managing Trustee of Samanvaya, Rev. Dr. Pius Fidelis Pinto informed the gathering about the Samanvaya social welfare activities.

The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr Clery D’Souza distributed the scholarship cheques to 29 deserving students amounting to Rs. 5.45 lakhs. In this address, he said “in life we all are doners and receivers at one time or the other. Gpd is the Supreme doner from whom we receive in different measures. KCO has distributed generously to the deserving needy students. KCO activities with the activities of Samanvaya are praiseworthy.”

KCO Trust distributes scholarships to 29 deserving studentsThe President of the function Bennett D’Mello, active KCO member and ex-President of KCO in his message reminded students of the generous gesture extended by KCO and urged them to be better citizens by inculcating values in life. The scholarship money is to be used strictly only to the educational purpose, he said.

Robert Rego proposed the vote of thanks. Rev. Fr Ronald Cutinha of Samanvaya compered. Frankline D’Cunha, Gerry D’Mello, Gerry Victor Lobo, Suzie Fernandes of KCO were present. In the last 19 years KCO Abu Dhabi in coordination with Samanvaya has distributed 1580 Scholarships to 469 students amounting to Rs. 1,35,91,100/- in addition to this, in the current year Rs. 2,20,000/- were given as scholarship to 10 students from the Gulbarga Diocese.
