Teacher-student-parents’ bond is like triangle: Teacher Theophila

Dubai: The 32nd episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s Namaste Teacher was held on Friday July 22 at 6.30 pm IST.

The guest teacher for the evening was Theophila D’Souza. The special guests of the evening were her students, Shanthi C. D., Branch Manager, Catholic Credit Co-operative Society, Venoor, Belthangady, Madhvesh K., Proprietor, Sunzone Systems, Udupi, President, Universal Souhardya Sahakari Niyamitha, Udupi, Managing Partner at A S Associates and at V-Volt Udupi, Smithesh Barya Counsellor, Film Director Ujire & Bangalore, and Shashidhar Pai, Managing Director, Pai Cares Suzuki Motorcycle Showroom, Belthangady.

The event host was Kiran Nirkan.

Through teacher-student interaction, the series strives to highlight teachers and their impact on students. The programme was premiered on NewsKarnataka.com’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

In the beginning of the show Kiran Nirkan introduced the guests and welcomed them.

Teacher Theophila D’Souza recalling the incident happened in the initial years of her career said, “The naughtiest guy in the class had written to me the words of gratitude in his blood before passing out of the school. The day I experienced contentment for becoming a teacher yet I would not recommend someone to go to that extreme.”

Student Madhvesh K. sharing his experience with the teacher said, “For me my school days were the most enjoyable one rather than college. Post 26 years of my schooling Theophila teacher is the only teacher whom I am still in contact with.”

Shashidhar Pai shared, “Theophila teacher was my best teacher. I was always behind her in my school. Teacher would call me ‘gunda’ and I was always present in her section checking teacher’s books, her purse etc. There can be no replacement for Theophila teacher, he said expressing that “she should be felicitated with national award for best teacher.”

Shanthi C. D. regarding her teacher said, “I have faced vivid situations in life, and the soul which supported me to boldly deal with every situation was Theophila teacher. I call the teacher everyday and a single day gone unspoken to her makes me feel really bad,” she shared.

Smithesh Barya shared, “Teacher has been our guide even in inculcating moral values. The class where teacher spoke about mother and the indebtedness we possess for mother had an impact within me so much that, I still recall those words.”

Discussing the role of teachers in evolving a generation students shared, “One can chose to be good or act bad to be recognised by the public but what way we choose to see our success is moulded due to the influence and guidance of a teacher”.

Teacher Theophila expressed pride for being blessed with such precious students and also shared, ” The bond between teacher and student is like a triangle which is completed by the parents”. She also expressed concern for the declined teacher – student bond in current times.

Both teacher and students appreciated the initiative of NewsKarnataka and expressed gratitude.
