Dubai: The 28th episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s Namaste Teacher was held on Friday June 24 at 6.30 pm IST.

The guest teacher for the evening was Vrashabharaj Jain. The special guests of the evening were his students, Shruthi, Physics Lecturer, Soumya Rani Madhava, Scrum Master/Project Manager, Tata Consultancy Services, Ganesh H. R., Spiritual Enthusiast, Energy Medicine & Practitioner Trainer, Bantwal and Dr. Gananath Shetty B., Physics Lecturer & Co-founder, Creative Education Foundation, Moodabidri.

The event host was Kiran Nirkan.

Through teacher-student interaction, the series strives to highlight teachers and their impact on students. The programme was premiered on NewsKarnataka.com’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

At the beginning of the programme, Kiran Nirkan introduced the guests and welcomed him.

“My student life was ridden with struggles. When completing high school I had changed four institutions. I was brought up by my grandmother as I had lost my mother when I was an infant. One day my teacher came to my house and warned my guardians about my absence from school, as I had the responsibility of looking after the hotel in my family’s absence. Post that day my responsibility was shifted and I was the class topper,” recalled teacher Vrashabharaj Jain.

Stating to have opted for the teaching profession out of passion Vrashabharaj Jain also recalled the incidents which made him realise his career is the best choice.

Student Soumya Rani Madhava stating her experience with sir shared, “Vrashabharaj sir is one of the teachers by whom I was inspired within a short span of time post joining college. He treated his students as his own kids and encouraged our Ideas. ‘Accepting our lack of knowledge is not at all a mistake and always fulfill the promise made’ sir taught us, she said.

Ganesh H. R expressed, “Education and training are available all around. But the potential to influence students and to direct them will always be Vrashabharaj sir’s focus”.

Shruthi said, “We were nothing once and sir turned us into potential one. Sir would always say, ‘When we change ourselves rest will fall into place automatically’. The statement seems very right to even today,” she said and thanked Vrashabharaj sir for being a part of her life.

Dr. Gananath Shetty B. said, “Prof. Vrashabharaj Sir is my beloved and respectful teacher. He has changed the lives of thousands of students like me. Hailing from Kannada medium schooling I could not even understand English but the teaching team of BSc changed everything for us. If I have become a success today then it is because of teachers like Vrashabharaj sir,” he expressed with pride.

Vrashabharaj Jain overwhelmed with his students’ words said, “The influence of a teacher is not limited to a classroom but throughout the life of a student and today I felt contended to know that my motive behind teaching is fulfilled,” he said.

Expressing the role of teachers in moulding a future generation, the guests said, “if there exists a bridge to eradicate a generation gap then it is a teacher. A mistake by an engineer may result in the building collapsing but the mistake of a teacher will collapse a generation. Teaching is the profession which creates all other professions.”

Vrashabharaj Jain said, “A teacher might be the greatest scholar but unless he/she builds a rapport with the student the knowledge will not be inculcated.” Advising the audience to inculcate the reading habits Vrashabharaj Jain expressed gratitude.

Both teachers and students appreciated the initiative of NewsKarnataka in recognising the teachers and highlighting the student-teacher bond. Wishing good luck Kiran Nirkan signed off the session.
