Doha-Qatar: Wilfy’s Konkani Sangeet Gharana, will be presenting 282nd ‘WilfyNite’ to celebrate 50 Glorious years of WilfyNites, and 50 years of “Konkan Kogul” title on October 1 Friday evening 5:30 pm (Qatar) and 8 PM IST.
Wilfy composed his first song in 1952, wrote a stage play in 1958, and performed his first music show in 1971. Wilfy was given the title Konkan Kogul by the Bishop of Mangalore at that time, the Late Basil D’Souza on 26 September 1971. From then on Wilfy has composed over 3,000 songs and presented 248 WilfyNites in his lifetime. After Wilfy’s death in 2010, wife Meena Rebimbus together with children Veena Rebimbus Pais and Vishwas Rebimbus continued Wilfy’s legacy and continuously presented ‘Wilfynites’ every year.
Speaking to the news VeenaRebimbus revealed that ‘this 282ndWilfyNite will be giving the essence of 1stwilfynitethat happened in the year 1971, and this time the renowned 19 voices from Qatar will come together to recreate the magic of 1stWilfynite’. It will be a big family entertaining eve for Wilfy’s song lovers and a grand tribute to legendary singer Wilfy’.
The songs that were sung for the 1st WilfyNite many of them will be presented yet again keeping the flavour of the ’70s. The singers who were present for 1stWilfyNite will share their memories. The audience will get to listen to the Original Audio clippings of few songs sung at the 1st WilfyNite. Over and above Wilfy’s Konkani Sangeet Gharana promises a great memorable evening on October 1.
