Nagamma, a 93-year-old female convict, was granted parole on Thursday after serving her sentence at Kalaburagi Central Prison. A resident of Jevargi Taluk in Kalaburagi district and registered as Prisoner No. 1135, Nagamma had been housed in the women’s section of the prison. The decision to release her on parole came after Upa Lokayukta Justice B. Veerappa visited the prison to inspect the conditions of female inmates.

Upon observing Nagamma’s advanced age, Justice Veerappa recommended her release, citing the legal provisions for parole. He directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Member Secretary and the prison’s Chief Superintendent to facilitate her release. Following the recommendation, Chief Superintendent Anita R swiftly acted to ensure Nagamma was granted general parole. She was officially released on parole in the evening of November 28.
