Govindappa Siddapur, who had been assigned to serve in the Jamkhandi assembly constituency during the Lok Sabha elections, suffered a heart attack on May 6 at a bus stop while en route from Mudhola assembly constituency to Jamkhandi for election-related duties.

Following his untimely demise, a proposal requesting compensation of ₹15 lakh was submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer on behalf of Govindappa Siddapur’s family. Sujatha Govindappa, the grieving wife of the deceased teacher, requested that the compensation be deposited into Siddapur’s bank account.

District Collector Janaki K.M., recognizing the importance of providing support and assistance during such challenging times, personally handed over the ₹15 lakh compensation to Govindappa Siddapur’s family members. This gesture aims to help alleviate their financial burden and ensure that they receive much-needed support in coping with this tragic loss.
