Bagalkot: Two youths, Karthik and Pradeep, have been arrested following an assault on a Maulvi in Navanagar. The incident occurred on Sunday night in Sector 4 when the Maulvi was attacked by a group of youths while riding a scooter.
The motive behind the altercation remains unclear, but it has sparked significant community unrest. Hundreds of people gathered outside the Navanagar police station, demanding immediate action.
Additional SPs Mahanteshwar Jiddi and Prasanna Desai have promised a thorough investigation into the incident. A heavy police presence has been deployed in the area to ensure peace and order.
Superintendent of Police Amarnath Reddy confirmed the incident and the arrests, stating that the fight involved four individuals and the Maulvi was assaulted.
