Bellary: A concerning incident occurred on Monday in Rayarala Tanda village of Hagaribommanahalli taluk, where nine individuals fell ill after consuming mushrooms. The affected persons were promptly admitted to the primary health centre in Magimavinahalli and the government hospital in the town.
According to medical authorities, the mushrooms contained a poisonous element, causing immediate symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea after consumption. Fortunately, the timely admission of the patients to the hospital ensured that their condition was stabilised, and their lives are not in danger.
The doctor attending to the patients confirmed that the prompt medical intervention prevented any serious complications. “The patients were admitted in time, and we were able to provide necessary treatment. There is no danger to their lives, and they are receiving appropriate care,” the doctor said.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of foraging for wild mushrooms in the region. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the source of the poisonous mushrooms and prevent such incidents in the future.
