Tragedy struck Ballari district as a mill worker was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances at the RJ Cotton Mill near the Ranithottam locality. The unsettling find was made public by the police on Saturday.
The deceased was found unclothed with visible wounds on his head, shoulder, and ear. His wife, Neelaveni, who had reported him missing just a day earlier, identified the body. She had grown concerned after he failed to return home several days prior and had officially filed a missing person complaint on April 4, 2025.
Ballari Superintendent of Police Shobha Rani confirmed to ANI that the body was located on April 5, after which Neelaveni and family members rushed to the scene. Based on her formal complaint, authorities have registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, and a full-scale investigation is now underway.
Meanwhile, another tragic event unfolded in Kalaburagi district early Saturday morning. A van carrying passengers crashed into a stationary truck near Nelogi Cross. The impact claimed the lives of five individuals and left 11 others injured. All victims were from Bagalkote district.
Emergency teams transported the injured to Kalaburagi Hospital for treatment. Kalaburagi Superintendent of Police A. Srinivasulu visited the accident site for an on-ground assessment. Police have registered a case at the Nelogi police station in connection with the accident.
