Belagavi: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rejected the charges of political counterparts that he was protecting Lokayukta Bhaskar Rao to bail himself out in a petition with regard to Arkavathy land scam which is pending before the Lokayukta. ‘It’s a baseless allegation by the opposition and it’s just and there is no case against me in Lokayukta,’ he said.
In response to a letter allegedly written by the Lokayukata to the state government with regard to the allegations against corruption watchdog, CM said, “I have not received any such letter from the Lokayukta, the two I have received are about asking the government to set up a SIT to probe the case”, said the Chief minister.
“Why should I protect anybody? Opposition is making charges with malafide intentions and for political motives. I challenge them to show that the state government has powers to decide on the investigating agency.” he added.
He reiterated that his government is not protecting anyone and it has no power to neither remove the Ayukta from the power nor inquire into the alleged corruption charge in the anti-corruption wing
