Belagavi: A shocking revelation was made in the Karnataka Assembly on Monday when Gurmitkal JD(S) MLA Sharanagouda Kandakur reported that 127 children from Yadgir district had died over the past year due to various causes. Highlighting the poor state of healthcare infrastructure, Kandakur emphasized that all the deceased children came from impoverished families relying on government hospitals for treatment.

“These families are unable to afford private hospitals. Only the affluent can access treatment in corporate hospitals, while the poor continue to suffer,” Kandakur stated during a discussion in the Assembly, underscoring the urgent need to strengthen healthcare facilities in North Karnataka, particularly in Yadgir.

The revelation has raised serious concerns about healthcare accessibility and quality for underprivileged families in rural regions. The lack of adequate medical resources in government hospitals has further worsened the situation for vulnerable communities.

Kandakur’s statement calls for immediate government intervention to improve medical infrastructure, hire qualified healthcare professionals, and ensure that every child has access to proper treatment, regardless of economic background.
