Belagavi: As many as 34 students complained of stomach pain after eating midday meals at the government higher primary school at Laknayakankop village in Ramdurg taluk. The kids were immediately admitted to Ramdurg Taluk Hospital.
The food is prepared at the school every day and the parents complain that the food served under the programme is of poor quality.
On Wednesday, the cooks had changed the menu and served Pulao instead of rice and sambar.
Block education officer Hanamantgouda Miraji said that from an outset it seems that the rice was not cleaned properly.
“We have collected the food samples. It will be sent to higher officials to Belagavi for testing. I have already issued showcase notices to the Headmaster of the school and to the Taluk Officer of midday meals scheme,” he said.
Out of the admitted students, 31 students were administered medication and discharged while three have been kept under observation. All the students are out of danger.
