Bagalakote: The agitation to make the Town a Taluk headquarters completed 310 days on Friday February 17. The expectation that Mahalingapura would be announced as Taluk in the Budget presented by the State Government on Friday February 17 turned out to be untrue.

Upset over the non-declaration of the Taluk, the public went on a strike at Chennamma Circle on the afternoon of Friday February 17 with a sudden road blockade.

On this occasion, the activists verbally abused Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Teradal MLA Siddu Savadi, Minister Govind Karjol, MP P. C. Gaddigowda and other political leaders.

For 310 days, the Government did not recognise the struggle of the people of Mahalingapura and surrounding villages and acted against Democracy.

Chanabasu Hurakadli, Secretary of the Struggle Committee, lashed out at the Government, saying that the demand of the last 30 years has not been accepted.
