Bagalakote: Various furniture of the office of the Special Land Acquisition Officer of Upper Krishna Project here was seized for not paying land compensation to the real heirs and others. The confiscation process was carried out on the orders of Additional Judge Prashant Chutney of the JMFC Civil Court here.

Sheshagirirao Sardesai was the heir to R.S.No. 248/184 acres of land at Seemikeri Village in the Taluk of the District, which was handed over to Sabanna Kenchannavara and recorded. After his death, it was handed over to his wife. About a year and nine months ago, 3.26 guntas out of 4 acres were acquired for the rehabilitation centre and 12 guntas are in his name.

When approached that compensation had not been paid for the acquired land, it came to light that the compensation had been paid to someone else due to a mistake. The court expressed displeasure over the non-implementation of the promise to rectify it when the case went to court. For this reason, the court ordered the confiscation of the office of the SLAO.

The seizure was made on Monday February 13. Eeranna Kalyani represented the respondents.
