Bagalakote: Bagalakote District, which has the highest number of weavers in the State, has earned the reputation of being a weavers’ constituency, especially the Teradal Assembly Constituency, when the BJP ticket, which was supposed to be given to Mahadevappa Hatti twice, was dropped at the last minute. Manohar Shirol, who belongs to the Weavers’ Community, organised the party as a loyal BJP worker and as the President of the Weavers’ Prakoshta, had shown a knack of garnering weavers’ votes without dividing them.
Srisaila Dabadi, a prominent Leader of the Daiva Mandal, demanded that the BJP top brass should give priority to the weavers’ community and declare Manohar Shirol as its candidate in the upcoming elections.
Addressing a press conference at a meeting of leaders of Weavers’ Societies in Rabakavi-Banahatti, Ramapura and Hosur held at the office of The Hatagara Daivamandal in Banahatti on Wednesday December 14 he said, “MLA Siddu Savadi has already been elected twice as District President and three-time MLA with the support of the weavers’ community. Srisaila urged the MLAs to come forward and help Manohar Shirol get the BJP ticket from Teradal Constituency and work hard for his victory.
