Bagalkot: A software engineer by profession and lawyer by chance, Shivaprasad Sajjan was accused of circulating nude photographs of a woman. It was observed that he had sent the same to many others from a cyber cafe. The woman who was the victim of such a shameful act had known Shivaprasad.
Shivaprasad (38), a resident of Bagalkot, was found guilty under Section 67 (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.
As a case was filed against him in the year 2008, he quit being a software engineer and studied law in order to support his trade of nudity.
He strongly defended himself for the act that was thought to be committed from his hometown. the case was then transferred to CID Cyber Crime branch under which he currently faces 2 years of imprisonment and Rs 25000 penalty.
After a thorough investigation, the reports revealed that he had been sending obscene emails from a cyber cafe in Rajajinagar.
Police have said that Shivaprasad and the victim (woman) were college mates and friends in Bengaluru. The friendship could not sustain for a longer period as the woman was unable to find a job in Bengaluru and left for Delhi (her hometown). Mentally disturbed and obsessed, Shivprasad decided to morph her photo with nude photographs and also email the same to her and his other friends. The images were also emailed to anonymous people as well.
Unfortunately, there were no CCTV footages during the investigation process and the police tracked down the crime after inquiring with his family and friends. Shivaprasad had known the loopholes in the law. Even after trying hard, he has now surrendered to the law.
