Belagavi: Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa announced his retirement from election politics. However, he will continue in active politics.
Speaking to reporters in Belagavi, he announced that he is not contesting in the upcoming Assembly election and he has decided not to contest again in any elections.
“I am 80 years old now. I will not contest again,” he said.
With this, the BJP strongman’s election career has ended.
“I will continue in active politics. My only aim is bringing the BJP back to power in this election and ensure Prime Minister Modi win again in the 2024 election,” he added.
Yediyurappa who is fondly called Rajahuli by his supporters is considered the only mass leader of the party in the State. He is still the backbone of the party State unit.
