Belagavi— In a significant development for North Karnataka’s transportation network, the Bengaluru–Dharwad Vande Bharat Express will soon be extended to Belagavi, as confirmed by local MP Jagadish Shettar. The proposal has received a green light from Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Shettar stated in a press release.
Once extended, the high-speed train will begin its journey from Belagavi in the morning, offering greater convenience to daily commuters, professionals, and business travelers heading to Bengaluru. Currently, the service starts from Dharwad at 1:15 PM and reaches Bengaluru by 7:45 PM.
This expansion follows long-standing demands from key leaders including Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Minister of State for Railways V Somanna, and Rajya Sabha MP Iranna Kadadi, all of whom emphasized the need to improve accessibility for Belagavi.
Belagavi is already linked by a Vande Bharat route between Pune and Hubballi, and the new extension is expected to further stimulate economic activity, ease travel, and enhance regional connectivity for residents and businesses alike.
