With a recent surge in inter-state thefts in and around Belagavi, Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang announced several stringent measures to strengthen policing, particularly in theft-prone areas. In a recent case, a thief was caught and beaten by locals in Hindalga. Additionally, several house thefts in rural areas, including Modaga Honnihal, Hudali, and Khangaon, were resolved with the arrest of all accused. The police recovered ₹7.80 lakh in stolen cash and two two-wheelers.

Commissioner Marbaniang emphasized that police-beat operations are being intensified to monitor suspected individuals. Regarding the absence of CCTV cameras in some areas, he noted that 280 cameras are currently operational, with maintenance handled by the Smart City Project. He also addressed complaints from traders about the alleged harassment of Goan vehicles, stating that the matter would be investigated.
