Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar announced the establishment of a modern Bal Bhavan in Belagavi district, modeled after the Bengaluru facility. This initiative aims to promote health, education, and recreation, fostering holistic development in children.
Located on 3 acres of prime land in Jadhav Nagar, Sulaga Village, the Bal Bhavan will feature a science park, a fantasy park, a mini train, and a theatre. With a budget of Rs 20 crore, including Rs 2 crore already released, the project is set to become a hub for sports and cultural activities. “The land allocated for the project is valued at Rs 100 crore, reflecting its significance for the region,” Hebbalkar noted during the foundation stone-laying ceremony.
Additionally, Hebbalkar revealed plans to construct a dedicated district office for the Women and Child Development Department on the same premises, funded with Rs 6 crore, including Rs 4 crore already approved.
The minister also shared updates on anganwadi initiatives in the district. Over 600 new anganwadis will be established, while Rs 1 lakh each has been allocated for repairs to 200 centers damaged during heavy rains. A list of anganwadis earmarked for upgrades has been finalized to ensure improved facilities for children.
This ambitious project is set to enhance the district’s infrastructure for child welfare, offering children a space to learn, play, and grow.
