Belagavi: An LPG gas cylinder explosion in Belagavi city on Monday claimed the lives of two individuals from Udupi. The incident occurred in an apartment situated in the Basavanagalli locality of the city.
The victims have been identified as 80-year-old Kamakshi Bhat and 27-year-old Hemanth Bhat, both hailing from Udupi district. The explosion also resulted in serious injuries to three other individuals present in the flat. Among them, two are in critical condition and are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
The local authorities, represented by Khadebazar police, have registered a case to investigate the circumstances surrounding the mishap. The exact cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained, and authorities are conducting a thorough examination to determine the details leading up to the unfortunate incident.
