Belagavi: ‘Water dispute, Maharashtra’s remarks not implementable’

Belagavi: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that all three rivers run through three to four states and all inter-state rivers are governed by the Inter-State Water Disputes Act. There may be differences of opinion among the states but such statements must not be issued as such irresponsible statements are not of any help. The Maharashtra leaders are making provocative statements which are not implementable, he asserted.

Responding to query of mediapersons on statements by the Maharashtra Leaders on releasing water from their state to Karnataka, the CM responded the above. He said that the statement has been said by members of the Opposition party. There will be mutual friendship among the states. Since the border row is pending before the Supreme Court let the Maharashtra State fight legally, he said.

“The stand of Karnataka is right as per the Constitution and the argument will be made effectively in the Apex Court, he added
