The remains of four Belagavi residents, including three women, who lost their lives in the Maha Kumbh stampede at Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, will be brought back on the Delhi-Belagavi flight, scheduled to land at 5:30 PM on Thursday.

The tragic incident, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, claimed the lives of Jyoti Hattarvat (44) and her daughter Megha (24) from Nazar Camp, Vadgaon; Arun Koparde (61) from Shetti Galli; and Mahadevi Hanmath Bavnur (48) from Shivaji Nagar.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan informed that postmortems were conducted in New Delhi, and after the required formalities, the bodies were transported by road before being flown to Belagavi. Some injured pilgrims are also expected to return on the same flight, with details to be provided by the special officer on duty.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed officials to receive the remains at the airport and offer condolences to the bereaved families. He, along with Public Works Minister and District In-charge Satish Jarkiholi, will soon announce the relief measures for the victims’ families.
