Dharwad: Hundreds of old aged people, differently abled persons, widows from Kundagol taluk led by “Janapara Horata Samiti” held a protest infront of Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday, demanding pension under social security scheme.

As soon as the protesters approached DC office, the main gate was closed by the police. The protesters got into a verbal dual with the police personnel and demanded entry inside DC office but in vain.

They were stopped at the main gate, where they raised slogans against the authorities for delay in release of their pension amount.

They alleged that they had not received any money from the government since the last 12 months. Though they had approached the Kundagol Tahasildar office repeatedly, no amount was deposited in their accounts, they said.

They said the aged people were dependent on government’s financial help and were unable to lead their life without money and demanded the deputy commissioner to release their pension of 12 months forthwith without any delay.

Later a memorandum was submitted to the district administration in this regard.
