Dharawad: As many as 20 sanitary napkins vending machines have been installed at 20 major Railway Stations in Hubballi, Mysuru and Bengaluru Divisions of South Western Railway on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Speaking after inaugurating the sanitary napkin vending machines at Sri Siddharoodha Swamiji Hubballi Railway Station, South Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (SWRWWO) President Dr. Vandana Srivastava said, under corporate social responsibility activities, SYSOPS Company has provided machines to South Western Railway and sanitary napkins are being provided by Women’s Welfare Agency of the zone. “These machines have been installed in the women’s waiting halls of the Railway Station. This is a small effort to empower women and make the journey of women passengers more comfortable,” she said.

“Women have to put the coin of Rs. 5 into the machine and take a pad. Vending machines have been installed at the Railway Station to make it easier for women passengers to get sanitary napkins. The initiative is one of promoting menstrual hygiene and ensuring the safety and comfort of women passengers,” she said.
