Dharwad: As part of World Bicycle Day celebrations on June 3, a cycle marathon has been organised by the health department to create awareness about non-communicable diseases and air pollution, said Dstrict Health officer Dr Shashi Patil.
“Like every year, World Bicycle Day is celebrated everywhere on June 3. Accordingly, a cycle marathon, has been organised by the district health and family welfare department on that day.
School children and the general public will participate in the cycle marathon, which will begin from the DHO office premises at 9 am on June 3.
Due to carelessness and indifference, people are not paying attention to health, hygiene due to which non-communicable diseases are on the raise and excessive vehicle use, waste burning, deforestation are leading to air pollution, she said.
